 Essential Oil Soap Bars

Perfect for those who wash their hands frequently !

New Day Soap is known for being non-drying yet providing a superior feeling of cleanliness because it doesn't leave a residual film. It has a higher percentage of plant-based oils and butters than used in mass produced soap and doesn't contain any detergents. The glycerin that is produced and retained as a natural by-product of our soap-making process is like a natural skin lotion in the soap. Using high-foaming detergent cleansers or hand sanitizers can strip the skin of its protective sebum as well as stripping the fats within the barrier function.

Our Botanical oils include:

COLD-PRESSED OLIVE OIL -

  1. Moisturizing properties: Olive oil is an excellent natural moisturizer for the skin. It helps to lock in moisture, keeping the skin hydrated and preventing dryness. The fatty acids present in olive oil nourish and soften the skin, leaving it smooth and supple.

We believe that this formulation is so perfect that we use this same recipe for all of our soap. The only alterations you'll find are in wonderful choices of essential oils and scents that are offered. We do make a few soaps with whole goat's milk or honey but this will be noted in the Ingredients List.

Our soaps do not contain Sodium Laurel Sulfate - they lather beautifully on their own !

Because we do not add chemicals to fabricate harder or faster curing soaps like some others do, for best results, allow soap to dry between each use. Store soap out of water preferably on a soap dish . If you take lots of baths/showers and wash your hands frequently consider using a few bars of soap and alternating them to allow enough drying time between each use.

Here is an article by Ferris Jabr from The New York Times, titled "Why Soap Works", that explains why hand washing is so critical and effective in combatting COVID-19.

"People typically think of soap as gentle and soothing, but from the perspective of microorganisms, it is often extremely destructive. A drop of ordinary soap diluted in water is sufficient to rupture and kill many types of bacteria and viruses, including the new coronavirus that is currently circling the globe. The secret to soap’s impressive might is its hybrid structure.

Soap is made of pin-shaped molecules, each of which has a hydrophilic head — it readily bonds with water — and a hydrophobic tail, which shuns water and prefers to link up with oils and fats. These molecules, when suspended in water, alternately float about as solitary units, interact with other molecules in the solution and assemble themselves into little bubbles called micelles, with heads pointing outward and tails tucked inside. (Note: these characteristics are not unique to soap; all surfactants work this way!)

Some bacteria and viruses have lipid membranes that resemble double-layered micelles with two bands of hydrophobic tails sandwiched between two rings of hydrophilic heads. These membranes are studded with important proteins that allow viruses to infect cells and perform vital tasks that keep bacteria alive. Pathogens wrapped in lipid membranes include coronaviruses, H.I.V., the viruses that cause hepatitis B and C, herpes, Ebola, Zika, dengue, and numerous bacteria that attack the intestines and respiratory tract.

In tandem, some soap molecules disrupt the chemical bonds that allow bacteria, viruses and grime to stick to surfaces, lifting them off the skin. Micelles can also form around particles of dirt and fragments of viruses and bacteria, suspending them in floating cages. When you rinse your hands, all the microorganisms that have been damaged, trapped and killed by soap molecules are washed away.”

"Hi Leslie, my husband and I bought 3 of your soaps on Saturday. I used the oatmeal one this morning to shave my legs - love it! It lathers up so nice and my razor just glided. Must be the olive oil! Anyway, I wanted to let you know how well it worked." from L.M. 4/16/2018

"Thanks for responding Leslie!

I’m so glad to hear that you have been busy, your soaps are the BEST!!"  from N.P. 11/06/21
